(Using iTunes.app as a "server" and the Computers.app on the ATV as a "client".)īut then I figured that using Handbrake to transcode my MKV files took a lot of time (and computer power), so why not using the MKV's directly, with better quality to boot as well, as in no extra lossy transcoding step necessary. I archived them into MKV files (using MakeMKV), then used Handbrake to convert from MKV to mp4 because that seemed the only way to use an Apple TV as a client. As many people did and still do, over the last couple of years I ripped all my DVD's and Blu-ray's for more convenience.
